Coping
Held in the Breaking
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those whose spirits are crushed.”

Psalm 34:18
Pain can make a person feel set apart from ordinary life. Other people keep moving while grief changes the weight of the room. Psalm 34 speaks directly into that loneliness. God draws close to the brokenhearted. The tender place does not repel him.
David wrote from seasons of danger, fear, and loss. His confidence grew inside trouble. God's nearness did not require David to pretend that he felt strong. Scripture leaves room for lament, tears, questions, and the slow work of healing.
Tender places need wise care. Some need rest. Some need words spoken to a trusted person. Some need professional help, medical attention, safety, or time. Faithfulness can look like receiving care before we are able to offer much to anyone else.
Treat the wound with honesty. Pain ignored often begins making choices from the shadows. Pain brought into safe light can be comforted, understood, and gradually integrated into the story God is still writing. You are allowed to move gently today. God is already near.

God draws near to the places that hurt.

A Question to Carry
What kind of care does this tender place need today?

Practice This Week
Name the tender place without minimizing it. Ask what kind of care fits today: quiet, prayer, nourishment, movement, medical care, counsel, or the presence of someone safe. Choose one form of care and receive it without apology.
