Pursuing Abundant Life
Wiser Choices
Abundant Life

React, and the train runs straight through. Respond, and you get to choose where it goes.

Between what happens to you and what you do about it, there's a gap. Scripture calls this taking every thought captive.

Neuroscience calls it emotion regulation. Both are describing the same space, the one where you get to choose instead of just react.
Emotion regulation is what slows the train down, long enough to see what's actually in those cars before you let it through.

Every choice you make is a clue to what you believe.

Long before your reasoning brain fully developed, experiences paired with strong emotions were shaping beliefs about yourself and the world. Your brain learned from those experiences and built patterns designed to protect you, even when the beliefs underneath them were incomplete or inaccurate.

The brain can change. Through neuroplasticity, old beliefs can be challenged, emotions can be regulated, and new responses can be practiced until healthier patterns take root.

Change what you believe, and you begin to change how you live.

your mind." Romans 12:2
