Ordered Steps

Purpose can sound grand enough to keep us waiting. We imagine a calling as one clear moment when the whole road appears. Scripture speaks more often about steps. A step is small enough to take today and meaningful enough to change our direction.

Psalm 37 was written for people tempted to measure their lives against the apparent success of others. David keeps bringing the reader back to trust, faithfulness, patience, and delight in God. Ordered steps grow from a life being steadily turned toward him. The promise is deeper than a trouble-free route. God remains involved in the path, including the uneven ground.

A faithful step may look ordinary. Make the call. Keep the appointment. Finish the work. Apologize without explaining away the harm. Rest before exhaustion chooses for you. Small obedience carries more direction than endless analysis.

You do not need enough strength for the whole journey today. You need enough willingness for the next wise choice. Take that step carefully, then pay attention to what becomes visible from there.
